Spaced repetition

Spaced repetition for vocabulary: every word comes back right when it starts to fade

VibeLing decides which words to review today. Intervals grow with every correct answer and shrink when you make mistakes, so words move into long-term memory without cramming and without any setup.

What you get

Reviews at the right moment

No need to drill the whole list every day: the app shows only the words that need a refresh.

Hard words come back sooner

A word you often get wrong returns earlier, while an easy one goes away for longer and longer.

Five minutes a day

A daily plan of 5 to 50 words. It doesn’t change when you come back, so you can stop and continue from the same spot.

Different exercises

Picking the translation, spelling, remember-or-not, listening, speaking and filling the gap take turns, so each word is learned from several angles.

How the algorithm works

  1. Learning: a new word appears up to three times a day until you answer it correctly nine times.

  2. Review: each correct answer roughly doubles the interval — 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 days and on, up to 1024 days.

  3. Adjustment: the interval shrinks if your recent answers had mistakes, and a mistake during review brings the word back the next day.

Languages

The algorithm works the same for any of the 11 languages.

Questions and answers

What is spaced repetition?

A way of learning where you review material not every day but at growing intervals — right when it starts to fade. Each such review locks the word in for longer.

When is a word considered learned?

After nine correct answers a word moves from learning to reviews at growing intervals. It never counts as learned for good: even a mastered word comes back after a long while so it doesn’t fade.

What if I skip a day?

Nothing bad: the words due for review stay put and go into your next sessions. The daily plan is capped at the number of words you chose, so you won’t get buried.

Can I mark a word I already know?

Yes. “I know this word” takes it out of learning, and it comes back only after the longest interval.

Do I need to set anything up?

No. If you like, choose how many words to learn a day and switch off exercises you don’t enjoy — the app works out the intervals itself.
