Download the app for free Spanish vocabulary testPreocupado goes with estar, because it names a state you are in: estoy preocupado says nothing about what you are like in general. Ser preocupado does exist and describes a permanently anxious character, but it is rare enough that reaching for it by accident sounds odd.
The preposition is por, never de or para: preocupado por los resultados, preocupado por ti. Two neighbours are easy to confuse — preocupante is not «worried» but «worrying», la situación es preocupante, so preocupado is the person and preocupante the thing. And Spanish often turns the sentence round: me preocupa el examen, literally «the exam worries me», is far more common than estoy preocupado por el examen, exactly where English prefers I'm worried about it.
preocuparse to worry
The verb; no te preocupes is its commonest form.
nervioso nervous, edgy
About the body's jitters rather than about an outcome.
tranquilo calm
The opposite, and also an interjection meaning «relax».
