Download the app for free Spanish vocabulary testUbicado is a past participle doing an adjective's job, so it agrees with whatever it describes: el hotel está ubicado, la oficina está ubicada, los edificios están ubicados. Getting that ending wrong is the mistake to watch for, because English located never changes shape.
It pairs with estar, not ser — position is a state, not an identity. And it is heavier than everyday speech needs: in conversation Spanish simply says el hotel está cerca de la playa, and ubicado belongs to descriptions, listings and formal writing. Spain leans towards situado where Latin America prefers ubicado, and both are correct. The noun from the same root is la ubicación, and the reflexive ubicarse also means to get your bearings: todavía no me ubico en esta ciudad.
